Harpsichord Recital by Music Director Arthur Omura
On February 24, 2019, Grace Music Director Arthur Omura presented a a study of the dark serenity of French harpsichord music of the 18th century, a time when French culture was supreme, and the clavecinistes set the musical taste for all of Europe. Works by D’Anglebert, Rameau, Couperin Le Grand, and Duphly, demonstrate the transition from the effortless control of the dance suite to the ecstatic freedom of the chaconne and the passacaglia.
On February 17, 2019, we welcomed the Very Reverend Dr. Malcolm C. Young, Dean of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco to our Faithful Forum speaker series. Rev. Dr. Young spoke to a crowd of about 50 people about Theology and Nature, specifically the influence of 19th century author and philosopher Henry David Thoreau on religious thought about the natural world.
